Jambi (ANTARA Jambi) - A joint team of police officers from Jambi regional police command and Mestong police sector arrested 11 illegal immigrants from Iraq on Friday.
"The 11 illegal immigrants from Iraq were on the way from Dumai by Putra Persada BG 7274 LM bus driven by Asriadi to Jakarta when caught," Mestong police sector chief Second Inspector Abdul Akil said when contacted for his confirmation on the arrest.
He said they were caught while they were on the East Trans-Sumatra section between Jambi and Palembang.
He said the police immediately took action following information about them.
The 11 Iraqis are Ali Hmood (23), Arshed Alnda (33), Waleed Naeem (36), Hmood Hasan (52), Kassem Hoed (54), Ali Jassem (32), Asra Majeed (26), Ammer Ali (2.5), Ruqayah Ali Jassem (8), Muhammad (53) and Yssam (38).
They failed to show their passports or identities when checked, except Ali Hmood, he added. The illegal immigrants have been referred to the Jambi immigration office for further process.(Ant)
