The village will be registered for Engaging Communities category, the Head of Tourism Destination at Jambi's Culture and Tourism Office, Guntur, said here on Wednesday.

"The category concerns the participation of the locals in developing tourism potential through local wisdom and environment preservation that give positive economic impacts to the people," he said.

Guntur added the Engaging Communities category is a recognition to the people's welfare through tourism optimization by empowering local people.

"We have approached and coached the local people since 2011. The village now is growing rapidly and the people are living well," he said, adding that Lempur village will be competing with other villages across the world.

"We expect to register Lempur on August 16, 2016. We also register the village at the Nations World Tourism Organization Awards," Guntur said.

Lempur tourist village, which will be inaugurated on August 20, 2016, has five unique lakes namely Lingkat, Nyalo, Duo, Kecik and Kaco.
