The exploration is to determine the potential of oil and gas reserves as the company is set to increase production, Jambi Field Manager Alice Maylana said here on Monday.
Alice said the two wells under explorations include the wells of Puspa Asri II and III.
"Drilling of Puspa Asri III has been completed and now its economic value is evaluated. If it is commercially feasible development would continue for exploitation. Meanwhile, Puspa Asri II is still in the process of preparation," he said.
Drilling of the two wells is expected to be completed this year that the size of the reserves held by the two wells is known.
Meanwhile, spokesman of Pertamina EP for Jambi field Arina Hidayatulchasanah said the cost drilling the two well is around US$4 million-US$6 million.
In addition, in 2018 Pertamina EP, a subsidiary of the state-owned oil and gas company, will have three new wells operational in its working area.
"There are three well to come on stream in 2018, Arina said without saying the location.
Arina said in the first half of 2017 oil production from the Jambi Field J totaled 3,484 barrels per day or 99 percent of the target.ÂÂ
