Jambi, Aug 3 (Antara) - PT Pos Indonesia will launch a stamp series in August 2017 to mark the Association of Southeast Asian Nations` (ASEAN`s) 50th year and Indonesia`s development, the company`s Jambi Branch Head Norman Fitriadi stated here, Thursday.
The ASEAN stamp series will be launched on August 8, 2017, to commemorate the golden anniversary of the organization, while the stamp to mark Indonesia`s development will be unveiled on August 17, 2017, to commemorate the 72nd Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.
He noted that the latest stamps will be a new collection and quite monumental for philatelists.
The Philately Division of the Indonesian postal service company annually releases new series of stamps based on a special theme that highlights the events taking place in the country and abroad.
Apart from being used as a charge for mail delivery, a stamp is also an educational medium for people to learn about history.
The International World Stamp Exhibition 2017 is currently being held in Bandung, West Java Province, on August 5-6, 2017.
